Select a rectangular range such as A1:B1. Review values in the range before merging because the resulting visual cell cannot display independent values in each position.
Steps
- Start with a local XLSX. Replace the sample paths and identifiers with your own.
- Run the command below. Save to a new output path so the source remains available for comparison.
- Check the result as described below before using it in another job.

Check the result
Open the saved sheet and check the merged region and its retained value before distributing the workbook.
