Copy a worksheet inside an Excel workbook

Use jetformat excel copy-sheet to copy a worksheet inside an Excel workbook.

Copy a visible worksheet and give the copy a new name. Use this to keep the original sheet while experimenting with a revised report.

Steps

  1. Start with a local XLSX. Replace the sample paths and identifiers with your own.
  2. Run the command below. Save to a new output path so the source remains available for comparison.
  3. Check the result as described below before using it in another job.
jetformat excel copy-sheet finance.xlsx --from Summary --name Copy -o finance-updated.xlsx

Options for this task

--from Source sheet name
--name New sheet name
--output Output XLSX path (required)

Check the result

Inspect the output and read representative cells in both the original and copied sheet.

Notes and limits

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

The examples keep the original file. Add --force only when you intend to overwrite an existing output. Run jetformat excel copy-sheet --help to compare options with your installed version.
