Prepare the input
Inspect every cell in the target rectangle before merging. Do not use the operation as a way to concatenate several independent values.
These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel merge-cells --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.
Run the command
jetformat excel merge-cells finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --from A1 --to B1 -o finance-updated.xlsx
Select a rectangular range such as A1:B1. Review values in the range before merging because the resulting visual cell cannot display independent values in each position.
Review before the next step
Check the title and surrounding grid in the saved workbook. Merged cells can complicate sorting and downstream tabular extraction, so keep them out of raw data tables when possible.
Open the saved sheet and check the merged region and its retained value before distributing the workbook.
Keep the workflow repeatable
Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.
Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.
See the excel merge-cells options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
