Duplicate a worksheet for a reporting scenario

A planning workbook may need a separate scenario sheet based on an existing tab. Copying the sheet avoids reconstructing its basic structure by hand.

Inspect the source tab and choose a distinct destination name. Decide which formulas should continue referring to shared sheets before making subsequent edits.

A focused terminal workflow

jetformat excel copy-sheet finance.xlsx --from Summary --name Copy -o finance-updated.xlsx

Copy a visible worksheet and give the copy a new name. Use this to keep the original sheet while experimenting with a revised report.

Acceptance checks

Compare values, formulas, and formatting in the copied sheet. A copied tab is a starting point for a scenario, not evidence that all cross-sheet assumptions are independent.

Inspect the output and read representative cells in both the original and copied sheet.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel copy-sheet --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the excel copy-sheet options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
