Select the sheet and column explicitly. Use a representative long label when choosing the width instead of sizing only for a short example.
A focused terminal workflow
jetformat excel column-width finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --column A --width 18 -o finance-updated.xlsx
Width is measured in character units, not pixels. Use it to make a text-heavy column easier to read without changing its values.
Acceptance checks
Inspect the column in a spreadsheet viewer and in any PDF export you intend to deliver. Width changes can alter page breaks and the overall print area.
Read a representative cell to confirm the value is unchanged and review a PDF preview for clipping.
Before repeating the operation
These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel column-width --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.
Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.
Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.
See the excel column-width options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
