Turn a Word paragraph into a bullet-list item

A generated report may need a proper bullet instead of a typed bullet character. Structural numbering makes the paragraph behave as part of a list.

Prepare the input

Identify the paragraph in the original file and choose the intended list style. A manual bullet in the text is separate from the paragraph’s numbering properties.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word numbering --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Run the command

jetformat word numbering report.docx --paragraph 1 --style bullet -o report-updated.docx

Apply a list style to a 1-based paragraph in an existing DOCX. The list marker is document structure rather than a bullet character pasted into the text.

Review before the next step

Review indentation and adjacent list items after saving. Applying a list style to one paragraph does not automatically reorganize the surrounding narrative.

Extract Markdown and review a PDF preview to confirm list depth and marker appearance.

Keep the workflow repeatable

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the word numbering options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
