Set document title and author metadata in a DOCX

A report's visible cover can disagree with its stored title or author metadata. Updating properties makes the file's descriptive metadata consistent with its handoff.

Choose metadata values intentionally and avoid placing private information in fields that travel with the file. An author string is a label, not identity verification.

jetformat word props report.docx --title Report --author Ada -o report-updated.docx

Core properties are document metadata, separate from the visible title paragraph. Setting a title here does not rewrite headings in the body.

Acceptance checks

Read the properties from the saved output and check them in the recipient’s viewer. Changing metadata does not replace visible cover text or embedded comments.

Run word props without editing flags on the output and confirm the stored title and author.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word props --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.
