Set a PDF title before handing it to a customer

A PDF viewer can show stored metadata instead of the filename in its title area. Setting a clear title helps the delivered document identify itself consistently.

Decide what success means

Read the output metadata and inspect the viewer title. Metadata changes do not rewrite a visible cover page, remove comments, or establish verified authorship.

Prepare and run

Choose the title and author labels intentionally. Review whether metadata includes internal project names that should not be carried into the customer copy.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat pdf meta --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat pdf meta book.pdf --title Report --author Jetformat -o meta.pdf

PDF metadata is separate from text drawn on the pages. Changing the title or author does not remove names visible in the document or attachments.

Inspect the saved result

Open document properties in a PDF viewer and compare the new values; separately review visible content before sharing.

Scope and repeatability

This operation uses page-based credits. Review the billing guide before processing a large document.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the pdf meta options and examples for the command reference. Browse related pdf commands when the next step requires a different operation.
