Separate workbook tabs into individual XLSX files

A delivery process may need separate files for the worksheets in a combined workbook. Splitting organizes those outputs without manually copying tabs.

Decide what success means

Open representative outputs and check their key formulas and values. A split file can require review when its original sheet depended on workbook-wide context.

Prepare and run

Use a dedicated output directory and inspect the original sheet list first. Decide how to handle formulas that depend on other worksheets before distributing the results.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel split --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat excel split workbook.xlsx -o workbook-parts

Each visible worksheet becomes a separate workbook. Hidden worksheets are not part of the output set.

Inspect the saved result

Compare output file count with the visible-sheet count and check formulas that used other sheets.

Scope and repeatability

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the excel split options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
