Choose the destination name and inspect existing tabs for collisions. Also review scripts that refer to the original name outside the workbook.
A focused terminal workflow
jetformat excel rename finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --name Report -o finance-updated.xlsx
Use the current sheet name and a distinct replacement. Downstream scripts using a literal sheet name need updating when the workbook changes.
Acceptance checks
Confirm the new name in the output and check dependent formulas and automation. A workbook rename does not update filenames or external scripts automatically.
Inspect the saved workbook and test reads with the new sheet name, then review dependent references.
Before repeating the operation
These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel rename --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.
Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.
Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.
See the excel rename options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
