Apply appropriate heading styles before adding the table of contents. Choose the heading levels that belong in the reader’s overview.
A focused terminal workflow
jetformat word toc report.docx --levels 1-3 -o report-updated.docx
The table of contents uses heading styles. Apply proper headings before adding a TOC; manually bold paragraphs do not establish the same outline structure.
Acceptance checks
Review entries and page numbers after layout. Inserting content later can change pagination, so the initial contents section should not be treated as permanently final.
Review the entries after saving and the page numbers after layout, especially if the document has changed length.
Before repeating the operation
These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word toc --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.
Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.
Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.
See the word toc options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
