Limit an Excel PDF export to the report region

A worksheet can contain working data outside the region intended for readers. A print area defines the region used by the printing workflow.

Decide what success means

Review the resulting PDF for omitted columns, split rows, and unwanted blank pages. A print area affects output selection; it does not delete other cells from the workbook.

Prepare and run

Choose the full report rectangle, including necessary headers and totals. Check whether charts or notes outside that rectangle are intended for the recipient.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel print-area --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat excel print-area finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --range A1:B2 -o finance-updated.xlsx

Choose the cell range intended for printing. This changes print settings rather than deleting content outside the range.

Inspect the saved result

Convert the workbook and inspect the resulting PDF; do not assume a print-area setting alone proves the output contains the intended cells.

Scope and repeatability

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the excel print-area options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
