Leave a review note on an Excel cell

A reconciliation workflow may need to flag a single value for a colleague. A cell comment stores the note next to the relevant data without replacing it.

Decide what success means

Read the saved cell value and its comment separately. The note should not be mistaken for a change to the underlying number or formula.

Prepare and run

Confirm the worksheet and cell address from the source revision. A comment should explain the concern clearly enough that the reviewer can resolve it.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel comment --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat excel comment finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --cell A2 --text 'check qty' -o finance-updated.xlsx

Attach feedback to an exact sheet and cell address. A comment preserves the cell value and records a separate note.

Inspect the saved result

Run excel comments for that sheet on the saved workbook and check the text and location.

Scope and repeatability

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the excel comment options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
