Label an internal Word draft with a watermark

A draft circulated for discussion may need a visible status label on its pages. A text watermark helps readers recognize the document's working state.

Decide what success means

Check readability over both dense text and illustrations. A watermark is a visual label, not encryption, access control, or proof that a recipient cannot copy content.

Prepare and run

Choose a short label and inspect the sections used by the draft. Keep the final deliverable workflow separate so the draft label is not carried forward unintentionally.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word watermark --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat word watermark letter.docx --text CONFIDENTIAL -o letter-updated.docx

Use a watermark to label a document as draft or confidential. It changes presentation and should not be treated as an access-control or redaction mechanism.

Inspect the saved result

Render a sample page and confirm the label is visible without obscuring important text.

Scope and repeatability

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the word watermark options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
