Hide an auxiliary row without deleting its data

A workbook may contain an auxiliary row that is useful for calculations but unnecessary in a review view. Hiding preserves the row while changing what readers initially see.

Decide what success means

Check the saved workbook’s visible rows and formulas. Hidden information remains in the file, so use a separate data-removal process when distribution requires omission.

Prepare and run

Confirm the row number and inspect its neighboring labels. Deleting a row and hiding it have different implications for the workbook’s structure.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat excel hide-row --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

jetformat excel hide-row finance.xlsx --sheet Summary --row 2 -o hidden.xlsx

Use a 1-based row number. Hidden rows remain in the workbook, so this is a presentation change rather than a data-deletion operation.

Inspect the saved result

Inspect the workbook in a viewer and confirm the intended row is hidden without shifting adjacent row numbers.

Scope and repeatability

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the excel hide-row options and examples for the command reference. Browse related excel commands when the next step requires a different operation.
