Extract PDF table text for a reconciliation check

A PDF statement may contain values that need comparison with another record. Table extraction offers a starting point when the PDF contains usable text.

Prepare the input

Choose a representative page and keep the original available for comparison. Table-like visual spacing does not always correspond to a clean underlying data structure.

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat pdf tables --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Run the command

jetformat pdf tables book.pdf

Table detection is heuristic and reads an existing text layer. Merged cells, unusual spacing, and scanned pages need additional review.

Review before the next step

Compare row alignment, empty cells, and numeric values with the rendered page. Extraction is not OCR and should not silently turn uncertain cells into accepted business data.

Compare headers, row counts, and several numeric values against the PDF before using the table in calculations.

Keep the workflow repeatable

This is a free utility or read operation. It does not need a paid conversion to inspect the result.

Run jetformat pdf tables --help to compare options with your installed version.

See the pdf command reference for the surrounding workflow.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the pdf tables options and examples for the command reference. Browse related pdf commands when the next step requires a different operation.
