Extract embedded images from a PDF report

An asset review can require the images embedded in a PDF separately from page text. Extraction provides those objects without taking screenshots of whole pages.

Use a clean output directory and preserve the original PDF for context. Image names alone may not describe which page or visual role they had.

A focused terminal workflow

jetformat pdf extract-images book.pdf -o book-images

This writes embedded page images as PNG. It does not produce the same result as rasterizing a page, which also includes text and vector content.

Acceptance checks

Compare the extracted assets with the visible report. An embedded image may have been cropped or transformed on the page, so the standalone asset can look different.

Inspect extracted files and use pdf render if the task requires a complete page image.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat pdf extract-images --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

This is a free utility or read operation. It does not need a paid conversion to inspect the result.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the pdf extract-images options and examples for the command reference. Browse related pdf commands when the next step requires a different operation.
