Audit Word bookmarks before generating cross-links

Generated references can fail when a document template has renamed or missing bookmarks. Listing destinations before editing helps separate a naming problem from a link problem.

Use the exact template revision that will enter the automation job. A bookmark inventory from a different revision can make a valid script target the wrong destination.

A focused terminal workflow

Read bookmark names before referring to them in an automated workflow. A bookmark is a named document location; it is not the same as a visible heading or comment.

Acceptance checks

Compare the inventory with the identifiers your workflow expects. A visible heading is not evidence that a same-named bookmark exists.

Compare the names with the locations you expect to reference; an empty list means no bookmarks were found.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word bookmarks --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

This is a free utility or read operation. It does not need a paid conversion to inspect the result.

Run jetformat word bookmarks --help to compare options with your installed version.

See the word command reference for the surrounding workflow.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the word bookmarks options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
