Apply a real heading style to a Word paragraph

A paragraph that merely looks bold is not necessarily a heading. Applying a heading style gives navigation and outline tools a structural signal.

List the document’s styles and choose the exact style identifier. Template-specific names and identifiers should be checked against the file you are editing.

A focused terminal workflow

jetformat word style report.docx --paragraph 1 --id Heading1 -o report-updated.docx

List styles first and use the internal ID, such as Heading1. A display name and a style ID can differ, especially in localized templates.

Acceptance checks

Inspect the saved paragraph and document outline. A heading style can change spacing and pagination as well as visual weight.

Run word styles and extract Markdown to check the heading structure, then review the document visually.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word style --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the word style options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
