Add a qualification as a Word footnote

A proposal may need a short qualification near a statement while keeping the main paragraph concise. A footnote provides that supporting text at a reference location.

Choose the paragraph deliberately and keep the qualification understandable on its own. The note should explain the statement rather than silently replace it.

A focused terminal workflow

jetformat word footnote report.docx --paragraph 1 --text 'see spec' -o report-updated.docx

Choose the current 1-based paragraph number and supply the note text. A footnote is an attached document note, not a manually typed footer.

Acceptance checks

Inspect the marker and the footnote area in the saved document. Footnote growth can affect pagination, so check a representative page before delivering the proposal.

Read word footnotes on the output, then render the document to check the marker and page layout.

Before repeating the operation

These examples use local sample filenames. Substitute your own paths and check jetformat word footnote --help against the installed version before running the task. Put paths containing spaces inside quotes.

Writing an Office document uses one credit per command. See the billing guide for the current rules.

Keep the input revision with the result so a later reviewer can reproduce the decision. For a write operation, choose a new output path first; use overwrite flags only when replacing a previously reviewed result is intentional.

See the word footnote options and examples for the command reference. Browse related word commands when the next step requires a different operation.
