Split Word by sections or PDF by pages?

Word sections describe document structure; PDF pages describe the rendered result. Choose the split operation from the artifact the recipient needs.

A ten-page Word document can have one section, while a short document can have several sections to change orientation or headers. The number of pages cannot predict how many files a section split will produce.

Keep editability when it matters

jetformat word split report.docx -o report-sections

Use section splitting when the recipients need Word files and the author inserted suitable section breaks. Inspect each result and check section-specific headers, footers, and layout. Do not describe the outputs as one file per page.

Use PDF when the request names page numbers

jetformat word to-pdf report.docx -o report.pdf
jetformat pdf info report.pdf
jetformat pdf extract report.pdf --pages 2-5 -o chapter.pdf

Check the converted document before selecting the range. Fonts and layout can change pagination, so page 2 in a previous rendering is not guaranteed to start at the same paragraph after an edit.

The extracted chapter is a PDF, not an editable Word section. Converting it back to DOCX is another operation with its own layout and reading-order limitations.
